Main Street Electrical Parade – David Strom

This particular night of shooting the Main Street Electrical Parade was my first since buying a DSLR back in August ’13. I knew I wanted to be on Main Street and to experiment with motion blur, but other than that I had no specific framing in mind. The parade began and I started shooting the floats as they approached me, but the shots were underwhelming because their was no stationary focal point to balance the blurred floats. Halfway through I turned around and saw magic as the floats rolled towards Cinderella’s Castle with its spectacular holiday dreamlights. The winning shot was this one as Pete’s Dragon slowly rolled into the frame from the right.
