Taking a Break – Rich Martin

Two pirates take an extended break in the “Crew’s Quarters” lying deep within the dark and eerie  “Grotto of Lost Souls” at Disneyland’s Pirates of the Caribbean. Of special interest is the painting adorning the bar. The painting is an original creation by Marc Davis, one of Walt Disney’s “Nine Old Men,” which has hung in the “Crew’s Quarters” for years. Some speculate the painting foreshadows the fate of the redhead guests will encounter in the auction scene further on. Photography in the “Grotto of Lost Souls” can be challenging due to the movement of your boat, high contrast lighting, and special effects. This image was produced with a Nikon D750, 50mm f 1.4, ISO 10000. Camera settings: S Mode (1/160), ISO Auto, Highlight – Weighted Metering Mode. Editing in Adobe Lightroom and NIK Software Dfine 2.
