Carousel - Sean Spansel

MK Carousel – Sean Spansel

The Carousel in Magic Kingdom has never been a ride I’ve shot a lot of, nor ridden before my 2015 trip.  This trip was different for my wife and I, being that we are expecting our first child.  With my wife being in her second trimester, many of the “fun” rides were off limits to her.  This made us do a lot of rides/attractions we normally do not do, including the Carousel.  Venturing out of our norm for this trip was a different experience, but one I wouldn’t trade anything for.  Personally, it may have been one of my favorite trips to Walt Disney World ever.

I believe this was shot after we got off and they were closing up for the night.  Many Carousel shots, including ones I’ve shot prior, are mostly shot while in motion, but I’m liking the stillness of this image. I’ve been told a lot of my photography shows signs of symmetry and this one is no different, I love it.  Hope you guys do too.

Normally, I don’t spend much time in post on my images, but this image was probably worked on longer than I care to admit, but I think the end result is what I wanted going into the edit.  It’s a little more dark and gritty than I normally go for, but I think it works.

My name is Sean and have been shooting for a little over 5 years, since 2010. I'm what you would call a Disney fanatic, borderline addict. Ok, I am an addict. Mix my hobby with my addiction and this is what you get, a Disney Photographer (or so I'd like to think I am, even though I live 653 miles away). I wish I could get to the parks more often, but living in New Orleans, it's not always that easy.
