Through the Trees – Judd Helms

I go back and forth between bracketing images and using a single exposure.  I can typically get the look that I like from one under exposed RAW image.  This image though, is made up of three exposures one stop apart.  I enjoy taking HDR a little more to the drastic side.  I know people pretty much wage war on this topic and either love it or hate it.  Whatever your preference is on HDR, I encourage people to do what they like.  This image was shot with a Nikon Df and processed in Photomatix and Lightroom with Nik add ons.  I also suggest masking in a new sky from one of the original images of the bracket onto the processed image.  HDR processing typically brings in a ton of noise to a night sky.  If you are new to that process there are some great tutorials on YouTube.  I know I am continually learning myself and love it!  As always, thanks for looking and reading through.  Hopefully this might help your next trip out at night.  If you want to see more if my work, I invite you to check out my Flickr and Facebook.  Thanks again.
