Rapunzel’s Tower – Norm Lanier

In this shot I used a technique I’ve kind of moved away from. This shot was processed with Photomatix. I used to use this software for all my HDR work. I have to say I get a Thomas Kinkade Painter of Light feel off this shot. But with most things in life our perspective and our art changes with time.

These days most of my HDR shots are processed with 32 Bit HDR which combines the info from all the shots for a larger dynamic range but has very little effect on the sharpness or feel of the original photo.

Not that either choice is better, just different. And for this shot I’m very happy with the final result. I think there are still plenty of situations where I will use Photomatix but it’s not my go-to tool for every shot like it was.

The Thomas Kinkade vibe on this is really cool. Great post!

I’m not a big fan of the “HDR look” but this is beautiful. I absolutely get the Kinkade feel. I’m also using the 32 bit plug in for lightroom and am very happy with the results, although I only use bracketing for maybe 5% of my photos. Great work!

Very soft and inviting and perfect for this area of the park. I think the Kinkade reference is very descriptive.
