Grauman’s Chinese Theater Courtyard – David Punch

On my last trip, I used Kingdom Camera Rentals to rent a Canon 8-15mm fisheye lens. I tried it at each of the parks and got some pretty strange results. The warping is tough to get use to, but fun to experiment with. Since the Chinese Theater is so close to the hat, I knew I wanted to try and “fit it all in” with this lens. On this shot, It was getting dark so I tried a long exposure shot from a tripod. 30 seconds at f/18, ISO 125. I was happy to see that the wind was low and didn’t affect the palm trees. Since it was a rental lens, I was excited to see the sharpness and the detail in the building.

I'm from New Orleans, LA. My full time job is as the Entertainment Director for the Cats Meow, a well known karaoke nightclub on Bourbon Street. As an entertainer myself, I gravitate towards creative outlets. I do graphic design, photography, I sing, and perform as a club and mobile DJ. As my photography business grows, I find myself booking more photo gigs and less DJ gigs. Which is great, because a camera bag is WAY easier to move than a trailer full of speakers and dance lights.
