China Bowl Christmas – Norm Lanier

The Osborne Christmas Lights is a spectacular event that must be seen. Not only are the lights themselves spectacular but they are also choreographed to music which turns it into a festival. Photographing Christmas lights can be a challenge because of the huge dynamic range of the highlights and the shadows. For this scene I did a 5 exposure bracket  shot using a tripod. I ran a test of these exposures with Photomatix but the result was too gritty. I ended up using Merge to 32-Bit HDR Lightroom extension to increase the dynamic I had to play with. A tiny bit of adjusting in Lightroom and here’s the result.
