Wishes from Seven Dwarfs Cottage – Aunesty Reikofski
After viewing a friend’s Flickr page and spotting an amazing shot of Wishes from the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train queue, I knew I had to attempt to take this shot. In order for me to do this, I got to the park a few hours early and kept heading over to the SDMT queue and speaking with the CMs working it. As time got closer, within 45 minutes of the show, I spoke with the CM again to ask permission and let her know what I wanted to do. She allowed me to go through the ride (with my fastpasses) and told me I could hang out in the exit queue as long as I wasn’t blocking the exit traffic.
So twenty minutes before the show, I went through the ride and headed to my destination. I waited until 5 minutes before Wishes was to begin, then set up my tripod, in hinds sight, I should have just left the tripod put away, but I digress. I managed to shoot more than half the show from that location before other guests started to stop and stand with me, at which point a CM came along and told us we had to move on. Which was understandable, While I didn’t get nearly as many shots from the location as I wanted, I learned how to take the shot I would want.
So on another visit to Magic Kingdom, I headed back to the 7DMT to ask if I could take a few cottage shots. The CM was great and let me head right on back. It was only a few minutes before Wishes, so I set up and started shooting. Once I decided on exactly where I wanted to place my tripod, I adjusted my settings and did something I never do, I didn’t put on my ND filter. I had made the decision to cut my shots short in order to catch more foreground light during the show. I am quite pleased with this decision, as I ended up with about 9 shots from this area before once again being asked to keep moving.
I hope you enjoy this shot of Wishes over the Seven Dwarfs Cottage.
