Good Night Sweet Carrousel – Eddison Esteban
This is my first post here at Daily Disney Photo and I am very excited to be here amongst you all. I have followed and admired most of you and your work on Flickr and am honored to be here. My name is Eddison Esteban and my love for anything Disney stems from my father who was an Imagineer back in the late 60′s and 70′s. Most of my happiest memories growing up revolve around Disneyland and the Burbank Studios. Now that I have my own family, I have done my duty and passed on the Disney Magic to my children. Enough about me, let’s talk about the image…
An original Opening Day Attraction from 1955, the King Arthur Carrousel continues to be the iconic centerpiece of Fantasyland. It features 68 wood carves white horses and 1 chariot. Walt’s vision to create Disneyland, a place where children and parents can enjoy themselves, was inspired by him watching his daughters ride a merry-go-round at a local park. Fantasyland is always so crowded, it is normal for it to be filled with strollers, the young and the young at heart. After closing, the atmosphere is quite different and offers a much more peaceful scene. As I was closing out the park this one night, I knew that I needed to capture the stillness of King Arthur Carrousel as she prepared for a long deserved good night sleep.
Settings were ISO 100, 13 second exposure at f/11 at 14mm. Lens used was Nikon 14-14mm and camera was Nikon D4s. Post processing done in Photoshop and Lightroom.
