Dumbo - Sean Spansel

Colorful Dumbo – Sean Spansel

I think every Disney photographer has a Dumbo shot in their portfolio.  This was a shot that I’ve always wanted to do, but never found the time on my trips to set it up.  My last trip in January 2015, I was armed with a new 12mm fisheye and knew this was the lens I had been waiting for, to take this shot. I took a few clicks before settling on one I was satisfied with, starting with the colors and alignment of the Dumbos.  Many times, you’ll see this scene shot with a long shutter where the ride cars are not distinguishable, but I chose to set my shutter to a speed that showed enough motion, but not too much and I’m thrilled with the way it came out.

My name is Sean and have been shooting for a little over 5 years, since 2010. I'm what you would call a Disney fanatic, borderline addict. Ok, I am an addict. Mix my hobby with my addiction and this is what you get, a Disney Photographer (or so I'd like to think I am, even though I live 653 miles away). I wish I could get to the parks more often, but living in New Orleans, it's not always that easy.
